IRB driver/crew courses
Inflatable rescue boat driver and crew courses are starting in February.
IRBs are a crucial piece of equipment which allow lifesavers to swiftly reach beachgoers during an emergency. They’re also used when Elwood LSC performs water safety duties at numerous triathlons and swim events across the state while the club has a competition team which takes part in carnivals in Victoria and interstate during the off-season.
Members taking part in the IRB driver course must be a minimum of 17 years of age on the date of final assessment, hold and be currently proficient in SLSA Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew Certificate and have a Victorian boat operator licence. Those undertaking the crew course must be a minimum of 15 years of age on the date of final assessment and be currently proficient in SLSA Bronze Medallion.
